Fee-for-service planning for special needs families · Virtual, across Canada

Special People Need Special Plans.
We Know How to Build One.

Your bank can open an RDSP — but almost no advisor can tell you how the RDSP, the Disability Tax Credit, and your government benefits fit together. We can. It's all we do.

WHAT'S ON THE TABLE FOR YOUR FAMILY

The Problem

Why can't my bank help me with this?

Families walk into their branch with RDSP questions and walk out without answers. It's not your fault — the system genuinely isn't built for you.

🏦

Advisors don't know the RDSP

Not all financial institutions even offer RDSPs, and very few advisors understand how the accounts actually work. Most families get routed to a scripted telephone team.

🧩

The plan sits in a silo

RDSPs are usually managed on a standalone basis — never integrated with your taxes, your retirement, ODSP, or what happens to your loved one when you're gone.

🤝

Advice that puts you first

Too often the "advice" families get is really a sales pitch. We work fee-for-service: a transparent, flat fee for planning — accountable to one thing only: the family across the table.

Does This Sound Familiar?

Meet Sandra & Ryan

Sandra, 45, Calgary. A single parent living with her elderly parents and her son Ryan, 21, who has social anxiety and doesn't work. Sandra herself is on disability and had to retire early.

She receives CPP disability and an employer disability payment. She has an RDSP, TFSA and RRSP — but every time she asks her bank an RDSP question, she gets transferred to telephone banking and scripted answers.

She lies awake wondering: what happens to Ryan when I'm no longer here?

  • Will CPP, OAS and her pension be enough once CPP disability ends at 65?

  • Is her RDSP set up right — and is she leaving grant money unclaimed?

  • What is she actually paying in mutual fund fees, and is there a better way?

  • Ryan may qualify for the DTC, RDSP and AISH — how does she get him approved?

  • Who protects Ryan financially when she's gone?

A planner who has walked the RDSP road

Ahmed Mahiyan

CFA® · CFP® (Canada & U.S.) · CMT® · MFin

Founder & Financial Planner. Ahmed builds every plan personally — RDSP, DTC, benefits, investments, and the "when we're gone" questions.

Karar Tasmia

Relationship Manager

Your first point of contact. Karar takes care of onboarding, scheduling, paperwork and follow-ups — so nothing falls through the cracks and every family feels supported between meetings.

Ahmed started his career at two of Canada's largest banks — where, again and again, special needs families walked in with RDSP questions and walked out without answers. No advisor at the branch truly understood the plan. So Ahmed helped those families himself: step by step through the paperwork, the account opening, and the investing.

"The joy on those families' faces when the government grants and bonds finally arrived was priceless. I decided then: if I ever built my own practice, special needs families would be at the heart of it."

In 2022 he kept that promise and founded FIRE Financial — an independent, fee-for-service practice serving clients virtually across Canada. Then in 2023, the mission became personal: a close family member was diagnosed with a learning disability, and Ahmed lived the journey from the other side of the desk. Even as a professional planner, he found the paperwork overwhelming. That experience is why no family he serves has to figure it out alone.
